Mental Health Plan Beneficiary Handbooks

(Please note that (800) 273-8255, the existing number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, remains operational and will automatically route callers to 988.)

Non-emergency medical transportation and non-medical transportation may be provided for Medi-Cal beneficiaries who are unable to provide transportation on their own and who have a medical necessity to receive certain Medi-Cal covered services. If you need assistance with transportation, contact your managed care plan for information and assistance.  

If you have Medi-Cal but are not enrolled in a managed care plan, and you need nonmedical transportation, you can contact your county mental health plan for assistance. When you contact the transportation company, they will ask for information about your appointment date and time. If you need non-emergency medical transportation, your provider can prescribe non-emergency medical transportation and put you in touch with a transportation provider to coordinate your ride to and from your appointment(s).
